Right-hander Jerry Toups mesmerized the New York Empires while leading the Toronto Hurons to a 3-0 victory. Alex Mendoza earned his 7th save, after closing out the game. The Hurons sport a record of 54-85.

In the top of the ninth, Len Finnegan stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Empires were trailing 3-0, but had the bases loaded. That's when Alex Mendoza made a terrific pitch and Finnegan flied out. Gone was the dream of a New York comeback.
