Cincinnati Loses, 9-7, Despite Ferrie Exploits
The New York Knickerbockers spoiled a good performance by Cincinnati right fielder Len Ferrie, bumping off Cincinnati, 9-7, at Roman Arena. Ferrie went 4 for 5 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 4 runs. By defeating Cincinnati, the 4th-place Knickerbockers improved to 69-72.

Dave Lester went 1 for 4 for New York. The fan favorite had a key at-bat in the top of the second. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Damon Rutherford. It was his 46th RBI of the season.

"I don't care about style points," Lester said. "I only care about winning."
