The 8-7 Montreal win over New York was due largely to Frankie Novy. The Habitants second baseman went 2 for 2 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Earning the save was Al Johns. He's now cashed in 24 of 28 save opportunities. The 5th-place Habitants now sit at 67-75.

With Montreal leading 7-3 in the top of the ninth, Novy hit a run-scoring single off New York hurler Jose Antuna. It was the 77th hit of the season for Novy and put his team ahead, 8-3.

"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Michel Alexandre Cauchon.
