The Boston Terriers could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Ron Gordon into a win. Instead, the Atlanta Generals prevailed, 4-3, in 10 innings. Gordon threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball. Atlanta reliever Fred Mason snagged the win, upping his record to 3-0. Layton Taylor shouldered the loss. After today's action, Atlanta sits at 67-75; Boston slips to 71-70.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. With the game tied in the bottom of the tenth, an error by the Terriers allowed the Generals to score the winning run.

"We didn't go down without a fight," said Boston manager Phil Palapa.
