Knickerbockers Edge Bobcats, 3-2
|
The Cleveland Bobcats got a superb performance from pitcher Doug Leonard. Still, it wasn't enough to beat New York. The Knickerbockers won the game, 3-2. Leonard threw 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball. The Knickerbockers, now 2-0, have played some good baseball in the early going.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With New York trailing 2-1, Luis Benitez hit a sinker from Dave Van Loon to center for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Knickerbockers had a walk-off win.
"This place was electric at the end," Benitez said.
