Eagles Earn 4-2 Home Win
|
The Washington Eagles knocked off the Cleveland Bobcats, 4-2, in National Baseball League action at Monument Field. Washington pitcher and Springfield, Illinois, native Dave Alexander had an outstanding performance. Alexander, now 1-2, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 2, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. The loss drops Cleveland to 10-5.
The Eagles got a big at-bat from catcher Jesus Olvera. For the game, Olvera was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Washington a 3-1 lead.
"I just trusted my stuff," said Alexander.
