Captains Stumble, Fall to Explorers, 5-4
The St. Louis Explorers and San Diego Captains played an entertaining game for San Diego Sporting Complex patrons.

In a close game at San Diego Sporting Complex, the St. Louis Explorers edged the San Diego Captains, 5-4. St. Louis right fielder Gary Parker stood apart with his performance. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Alex Alonso was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 27 of 34 save opportunities.

St. Louis used a timely hit from Adam Voeller to get the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Explorers ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"We did enough to win," said Parker.

Their 83-63 record puts the Explorers second in the National Baseball League Western Division.
