Eagles Solve Bluebirds, 4-3
|
The Washington Eagles topped the Brooklyn Bluebirds, 4-3, in National Baseball League action at Monument Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Washington pitcher Ramon Juarez. Juarez yielded 3 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 2, and struck out 9. His record improves to 14-10. Richie Kingery, who is tied for 7th in the NBL in saves with 18, nailed down the save.
Randy Golick, who finished 5th in the NBL in batting average with .302 in 1965, aided the Washington cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the left fielder drew 2 walks in 4 plate appearances.
"I just tried to make good contact," said Golick.
The Washington win streak is now 3 games.
