Generals Win at Toronto, 9-5
|
The Atlanta Generals weathered a fine game by Toronto first baseman Ron Williams to upend the Hurons, 9-5, at Dominion Field. Williams went 3-4 with a triple and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Mark Campbell got credit for the win, improving to 6-11. He allowed 5 runs on 6 hits in 5 innings. The victory puts Atlanta at 59-87.
Atlanta took advantage of an error in the top of the sixth inning. The game was tied, 5-5, when Buck DeFalco hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put Atlanta in front, 6-5.
In postgame comments, DeFalco told the Atlanta Citizen: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?"
