Cincinnati Stopped, 2-1, by New York
The New York Knickerbockers got a stellar performance from pitcher Ray Schifsky, who handcuffed the Cincinnati offense en route to a win, 2-1, at Knickerbocker Stadium. The winner was New York reliever Wayne Houston, now 4-0. The loser was Brian Alfieri. Cincinnati has now lost 5 in a row.

New York second baseman Eddie McClatchey helped the Knickerbockers go up, 2-1, in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game tied, McClatchey hit a run-scoring single off Cincinnati pitcher Brian Alfieri.

"That's baseball," said Cincinnati manager Martin Abresch. "You're not always going to be hitting on all cylinders."
