Bobcats Win in Extras, 5-3
|
Brooklyn got a decent performance from pitcher Dick Conway, but it wasn't enough to beat the Cleveland Bobcats. Cleveland won the Flatbush Park contest, 5-3. Conway threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Cleveland reliever Chuck Pellegrino picked up the win, upping his record to 4-1. Dave Teckenbrock shouldered the loss. With the win, the Bobcats hiked their record to 74-72.
Cleveland relied on the hitting of Tom Crowell to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a 2-run single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Bobcats on top, 5-3. For the game, Crowell had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.
"There's no quit in this team," said Bobcats manager Daniel Mays.
