Wolverines Suffer 4-1 Home Defeat
|
The rain came, as predicted, but the Atlanta Generals and Detroit Wolverines were able to complete their ballgame.
The Atlanta Generals beat the Detroit Wolverines, 4-1, at Wolverine Field. Ed Mika went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The 30-year old first baseman was a menace to Detroit all day. The win was credited to 24-year old right-handed pitcher Kelly Clark in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Ray Wilson took the loss.
With Atlanta leading 2-0 in the top of the third, Mika came up to bat against Detroit pitcher Mark Kite. Mika hit a curveball to left for a 2-run home run. His 34th home run of the season put the Generals on top, 4-0.
"We didn't get the results we wanted," said losing manager Kurt Peterson. "But we'll come back and try and get the next ballgame."
Atlanta is now 69-78, while Detroit is 67-81.
