Duane Simmons was a vital contributor to the 2-1 Detroit victory over Baltimore. The Wolverines third baseman went 3 for 3 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Detroit took a 2-0 lead on Simmons's 4th home run of the season. The solo home run, which he hit off Nate Summers in the top of the sixth, propelled Detroit to the win.

Simmons told a Detroit News reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
