Lee Craig had a good game, but he could not keep the Los Angeles Blockbusters from falling, 9-8, to the San Diego Captains at Blockbuster Stadium. The Los Angeles catcher went 2 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 in the loss. San Diego reliever Ken Craig picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Tom Benson absorbed the loss. Jack DeWitt notched his 20th save in 25 chances.

Waymond Henry drove in one run for San Diego. The 26-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the eighth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 8-8 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Tom Benson. It was his 17th RBI of the season.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said San Diego manager Joe Mack.

The 91-57 Captains lead the National Baseball League Western Division by one game.
