Corps of Discovery Stadium featured a tense pitchers' duel.
Kansas City picked up a win at Corps of Discovery Stadium, bumping off the St. Louis Explorers, 2-0. Pitcher Dennis Greenlee was a major reason the Bulls emerged victorious. In 8.1 innings, Greenlee surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 4. He allowed no runs.
Kansas City used the timely hitting of Roger Turner to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Bulls on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"You can't win if you don't score any runs," said losing manager Ray Fleetwood. "You don't need Confucius to tell you that."
The victory gives the Bulls a record of 78-70.
