The New York Empires topped the Boston Terriers, 5-4, in American Baseball League action at Queens Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of New York pitcher Larry Stanford. New York reliever Jack Pratt, who finished 4th in the ABL in saves with 23 in 1974, was credited with the win. His record goes to 6-2. Layton Taylor took the loss for Boston. The Empires improved their record to 85-65 by beating Boston.

Paul Brower, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1963 draft, had a timely hit in the bottom of the fifth inning. With two out and runners on 1st and 3rd, the New York first baseman hit a run-scoring single. That put the Empires in front, 4-3.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Brower said.
