Wagner Delivers Walk-Off Win for Quakers
The inspired effort of Washington center fielder Bruce Brosnahan was not enough to prevent a loss, 8-7, to the Philadelphia Quakers. Brosnahan went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Steve Wardley, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 0 and walking 2. Today's win puts Philadelphia at 73-78, while Washington falls to 62-89.

Barry Wagner was the walk-off hero for Philadelphia. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Quakers pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"It wasn't our best performance," said Wagner, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
