Captains Win Thriller, 3-2
|
The San Diego Captains defeated the Milwaukee Dairymen, 3-2, at San Diego Sporting Complex. San Diego right fielder Ron Byrd had a superb performance. He was 4-4 with 4 singles. The win gives San Diego a season record of 81-71.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when San Diego pinch hitter Jimmy Locricchio, facing Arnie Keilman, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Captains the 3-2 win.
"Tough loss," said Milwaukee manager Brandon Dudley. "But we'll learn from it."
