Cleveland turned a good effort from starter Tim McDonald into a win over the Washington Eagles at Lakefront Stadium. The final score was 3-2. Chuck Pellegrino recorded the save, making him 2 for 2. Cleveland raised its record to 76-75 with the win.

The Bobcats got a big at-bat from first baseman Dave Appleby. For the game, Appleby went 1 for 5 with a double. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 17th double of the season gave Cleveland a 3-2 lead.

"We'll savor this win," Appleby told the Cleveland Gazette, "then get ready for the next game."
