Empires Deal Baltimore 7-5 Defeat

The New York Empires withstood an impressive performance by Baltimore first baseman Danny Phillips to defeat the Lords, 7-5, at Queens Field. Phillips was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Tom Duncan recorded the save, making him 4 for 10. The win gives New York a season record of 87-66.
The Empires got a big at-bat from second baseman Lowell Bickle. For the game, Bickle was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 10th home run of the season gave New York a 3-1 lead.
"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Bickle.
