Chuck McCormick was instrumental in his team's 7-5 triumph over the St. Louis Explorers. The center fielder went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles for the Philadelphia Quakers. Philadelphia reliever Bobby Holec picked up the win to move to 2-0. Tony LaDuke suffered the loss. Philadelphia now owns a record of 81-72.

The game was all tied up in the top of the ninth, until McCormick delivered big-time for Philadelphia, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Don Dalton. The game-changing hit put the Quakers on top, 6-5.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Philadelphia manager Jeff Green.
