Northmen Come Up Short at Chicago, 1-0
|
Chicago Hawks starter Bruce Elsner turned in an exceptional performance against the Twin Cities Northmen at Hyde Park Stadium, resulting in a Chicago win, 1-0. Elsner went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 11-9. The victory gives Chicago a record of 85-69.
Chicago took advantage of an error in the bottom of the sixth inning. The game was tied, 0-0, when Bill Ray hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put Chicago in front, 1-0.
"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Twin Cities manager G Maloney.
