Skidding Emeralds Lose 9th Straight
The Detroit Wolverines picked up a win at Puget Field, knocking off the Seattle Emeralds, 9-2. Starting pitcher Juan Rodriguez played a key role in the triumph. Rodriguez got the win, improving to 11-13. He gave up 8 hits and walked 0 over 9 innings. He allowed 2 runs. The losing streak for Seattle has now reached 9 games.

Detroit used the clutch hitting of Jeff Drago to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to give the Wolverines the lead, 3-2. For the game, Drago had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.

"We haven't been playing to the level we want to play," said Seattle manager Mark Velez.
