Burros Sneak By Captains, 3-2
|
Denver got a strong outing from Jeff Munoz as the Burros defeated the San Diego Captains, 3-2, at San Diego Sporting Complex. Rick Morton converted his 9th save in 13 tries. Denver goes to 96-59. The win puts them 2½ games up in their division.
Denver used the timely hitting of Ricardo Castillo to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Burros on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I was just trying to execute one pitch at a time," said Munoz.
