The Denver Burros did just enough to sneak past the San Diego Captains, 8-7, at Gates Crescent Park. Denver pitcher Tom Reid, in particular, had a standout performance. Denver has now won 7 games in a row.

The decisive blow was delivered by Guillermo Morales in the bottom of the 18th when he hit a 2-run double off 21-year old left-handed pitcher Ray McKenzie to win the game for Denver. The home crowd went nuts.

In postgame remarks, Morales said: "I'm proud of our guys, of their fight."
