Led by Lute Eccles, the Chicago Hawks defeated the Toronto Hurons, 5-3. Eccles was 2-3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 3 for the Hawks. Ron Woods earned his 16th save in 23 tries. After today's action, Chicago sits at 57-97; Toronto slips to 71-84.

Eccles had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 2-1 splitter from Mark Kissel, he banged a solo home run to right-center, giving the Hawks a 4-3 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Eccles.
