Andy Covarrubio made an impact in the 9-4 New York win over Cincinnati. Covarrubio was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. New York starter Bruce Orrick was credited with the win after throwing 102 pitches over 8.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-3. New York is now 77-80, Cincinnati 66-91.

Steve Hudson had a big run-scoring double for the Knickerbockers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With New York leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a cutter from 29-year old left-handed pitcher John Stoddard and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Knickerbockers ahead, 2-0.

"Their at-bats were really impressive against us," said losing manager Martin Abresch.
