Wolverines Tuck Away 5-2 Win Over Seattle
|
Spirited fans greeted the Seattle Emeralds for their clash with the Detroit Wolverines.
Behind an impressive start by Larry Black, Detroit beat Seattle, 5-2. The winner was Black. He threw 8.2 innings of 7-hit ball. The loser was Denny Goldberg.
Detroit needed the clutch hitting of Jerry Plumley to seal the deal. The center fielder swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Wolverines on top, 4-2. For the game, Plumley had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"It was a good night for them and a bad night for us," said Seattle manager Mark Velez.
Detroit is now 87-70, while Seattle is 71-86.
