The Atlanta Generals faced a tough opponent in Detroit pitcher Larry Black, but found a way to pull out the victory at Wolverine Field by a final score of 3-2 in 10 innings. Black went 8 innings and allowed 1 run. Renie White earned the save for Atlanta, his 9th. Atlanta has run its win streak to 5 consecutive.

Matt Legrow, who is a two-time All-Star, helped out the Atlanta cause in the top of the ninth inning with a run-scoring double. For the game, the center fielder went 1-3 with a double, while adding 2 RBI.
