Wet weather did not postpone the Seattle-Detroit ballgame.

The Seattle Emeralds beat the Detroit Wolverines, 5-1, at Puget Field. Starting pitcher Pat Burkholder was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. The loss makes Detroit 87-71.

The Emeralds picked up the win with a combination of good hitting and good pitching.

"Pat's a gamer," said Seattle manager Mark Velez. "Glad he's on our side."
