New York Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
New York center fielder Roger Hickey was a significant contributor in his team's 7-6 triumph over the Montreal Habitants. He was 4-5 with 4 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Empires. New York reliever Dave Kretz picked up the win to move to 8-7. Al Johns suffered the loss. The win puts New York at 89-68 this season.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With no one out, Hickey hit a fastball from Al Johns for a run-scoring single. The Empires, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"This place sure got loud," said Dan Whiting, the New York manager.
