Though the conditions were not ideal, the St. Louis Explorers and Kansas City Bulls came back from a rain delay to finish their game.

The Kansas City Bulls could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Waldo Hardaway into a win. Instead, the St. Louis Explorers prevailed, 8-5. Hardaway threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The winning pitcher was Marty Clark. He's now 16-8. He went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits for the Explorers.

St. Louis catcher Charlie Bartels contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the eighth. With two down, he hit a sinker to right field for a 2-run single. It was his 102nd hit of the season and put the Explorers ahead, 6-3.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Ray Fleetwood said.

The triumph puts St. Louis at 90-69 for the season.
