The Montreal Habitants faced a tough opponent in Toronto pitcher Joe Scott, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Dominion Field by a final score of 4-1. Scott went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Mel Calef picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 3-4. Joe Scott suffered the loss. Eric Roe notched his 7th save in 9 chances.

Montreal used the timely hitting of Roberto Alvarez to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Habitants on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I thought we played a nice game," Alvarez told the Montreal Observer. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."

Montreal raised its record to 86-73 with the win.
