Blockbusters Deal Captains 3-2 Defeat
In a low-scoring tilt between the Los Angeles Blockbusters and the San Diego Captains, Syed Farooqi was the difference-maker. The Los Angeles right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Farooqi, now 16-10, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing no runs. Dick Berry earned his 14th save in 25 chances.

Los Angeles used a well-timed hit by Steve Crespo to capture the win. The first baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Blockbusters ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"We found a way to get it done," Farooqi said.

With the victory, the Blockbusters upped their record to 83-77.
