Frederick Powers Blockbusters to 6-5 Win
The Los Angeles Blockbusters dealt the Denver Burros a 6-5 loss at Gates Crescent Park. Ken Frederick was the star on offense. He was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Basil Anderson, now 4-1, was credited with the win in 3 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Denver, at 4-13, is off to a poor start in 1974.

The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Bill May came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Denver pitcher Tom Reid, he hit a 2-1 sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Los Angeles on top, 5-4.

"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Denver manager Clark Anderson. "The effort was great."
