Quakers Take Down Knickerbockers, 4-3
|
The Philadelphia Quakers topped the New York Knickerbockers, 4-3, in National Baseball League action at Quakers Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Philadelphia pitcher Jack DeWitt. Philadelphia reliever Del Carbone picked up the win to move to 1-0. Steve Eaton suffered the loss. Bobby Holec notched his 1st save in 1 chances.
Fred Johnson chipped in for Philadelphia with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 4 runs batted in.
"We'll grab a cold beverage tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Johnson said.
Philadelphia now has a record of 86-74 with the win.
