Mike Sheffield left his imprint on the 5-4 Baltimore win against the Montreal Habitants. Sheffield, the 8th overall pick in the 1969 draft, was 2-4 with a double. He drove in 3 runs. The first-place Lords, at 94-66, lead the American Baseball League Eastern Division by 6½ games.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Baltimore center fielder Bob Carter, facing Hervé Lelièvre, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Lords the 5-4 win.

"That game was intense," Sheffield said.
