Packers Swat Knickerbockers, 11-2
|
The Cincinnati Packers put together a convincing win at Roman Arena, defeating the New York Knickerbockers, 11-2. Jerry Anderson was one of the hitting stars. He was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 for Cincinnati. Cincinnati pitcher Fernando Lopez got the win, upping his record to 1-2. Chris Hull got the loss. New York, with the loss, is still a robust 12-5.
With Cincinnati leading 5-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Anderson came up to bat against New York pitcher Chris Hull. Anderson hit a sinker to right-center for a grand slam home run. His 3rd home run of the season put the Packers on top, 9-0.
"You can't sugarcoat this one," said New York manager Timothy Widholm. "We got flat-out beat."
