Bluebirds Lose to Knickerbockers, 8-1
The New York Knickerbockers got a marvelous performance from pitcher Vern Gould. The right-hander kept the Brooklyn offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 8-1 New York victory at Knickerbocker Stadium. In 6.1 innings, Gould surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. The loss drops Brooklyn to 11-6.

The Knickerbockers got a big hit from pitcher Danny Abril. Facing Brooklyn pitcher Dave Teckenbrock in the bottom of the eighth, Abril pounded a 3-run home run to right. His 1st home run of the season put the Knickerbockers ahead, 8-1.

"We had a nice day," said New York skipper Sean Kelly.
