The San Diego Captains picked up a win at San Diego Sporting Complex, courtesy of Dario Fontanez. The right-hander helped his team stop the St. Louis Explorers, 2-1. The winning pitcher was Fontanez, now 3-1. He tossed 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 3. Ed Prater locked down his 2nd save.

Bob Anderson went 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for San Diego. The 26-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Harlan Estes. It was his 14th RBI of the season.

"We take it day by day here," said Anderson, "and today was a good one for us."

The victory makes San Diego 10-7, as the team seeks a return to the playoffs in 1975.
