Bluebirds Earn 7-5 Win Against Industrials
|
Good production from right fielder Harry Rhodes helped the Brooklyn Bluebirds topple the Pittsburgh Industrials, 7-5. Rhodes was 4 for 6 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Bluebirds. Dave Teckenbrock came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 1-1. John DiGiacomo was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
Brooklyn used the timely hitting of Bobby Wells to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Bluebirds on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Wells, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
The Industrials fall to 7-9 and continue to sputter in the early going.
