Generals Get Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
|
Atlanta and Baltimore played a hard-fought contest.
The Atlanta Generals went home winners at Seton Hill Stadium, thanks in large part to starter Roger Pochatko. Pochatko stifled the Baltimore Lords, enabling Atlanta to grab the 3-1 win. Pochatko picked up the win for Atlanta, going 7.2 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 2-2.
Atlanta used a well-timed hit by Bernie Wishert to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Generals ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"Bottom line," said Baltimore skipper Jordan Wells, "we didn't play well enough to win."
The Lords fall to 7-10 and continue their uneven start to the 1967 season.
