Bluebirds Top Knickerbockers to Even Record
|
The Brooklyn Bluebirds defeated the New York Knickerbockers, 7-2, in part because of left fielder Greg Landrum. Landrum went 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Bluebirds. Antonio Valerio was the winning pitcher. Over 7.1 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. The loss drops New York to 11-7.
Jackie Cooper hit a run-scoring triple off Vern Gould in the bottom of the first, which put the Bluebirds in front, 1-0. Cooper had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 4.
