Pobladores Trip Emeralds, 3-1, in Extra Innings
|
Los Angeles and Seattle played a hard-fought contest.
The Los Angeles Pobladores faced a tough opponent in Seattle pitcher Dave Gilson, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Puget Field by a final score of 3-1 in 10 innings. Gilson went 8.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Larry Seger got credit for the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. Earning his 2nd save for Los Angeles was Dave Young.
Los Angeles used a timely hit from Ron Somers to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Pobladores ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"Chalk one up for the good guys," said Somers. "I'm sure our fans enjoyed that win."
Seattle falls to 10-7.
