The 13-8 New York win over Atlanta was due largely to Rick Lintner. The Empires third baseman went 2-3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. New York reliever Danilo Molina picked up the win, raising his record to 2-0. Renie White was tagged with the loss. The Generals, now 6-12, continue their slow start.

New York relied on the bat of Roger Hickey to get the win. The center fielder ripped a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Empires ahead, 8-7. For the game, Hickey had 1 double and 1 triple in 6 at-bats.

"We got the victory," said Lintner. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
