Wolverines Pull Out Late-Game Win, 3-2
The Detroit Wolverines defeated the Boston Terriers, 3-2, in American Baseball League action at Wolverine Field. Duane Simmons pulled his weight. The 10-year veteran was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Tim McGovern, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. The Wolverines, now 15-3, have stormed out of the gates.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Simmons hit a fastball from Bill Falcon for a run-scoring single. The Wolverines, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Detroit manager Alex Wobbema said.
