Northmen Solve Emeralds, 5-4
|
The Twin Cities Northmen knocked off the Seattle Emeralds, 5-4, in American Baseball League action at Twin Cities Stadium. Twin Cities pitcher and Pasadena, California, native Gerald Gross had an outstanding performance. Gross, now 2-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 3, and allowing 4 runs. Rick Lindstrom earned the save for Twin Cities, his 3rd.
There was more than one reason the Northmen beat the Emeralds, but Gross's big at-bat in the bottom of the fourth was an important factor. He staked his team to a 5-4 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.
"Gerald was pumping the zone," said Twin Cities manager Jason Gudim.
The win puts Twin Cities at 11-8.
