Knickerbockers Suffer One-Run Loss at Philadelphia
The rain could not keep the home crowd from enjoying a good ballgame.

Behind an impressive start by Arnold Jarry, Philadelphia beat New York, 2-1. The win went to Jeff Hurley in relief, making him now 1-1. Ray Schifsky took the loss for New York. The save went to Darrell Klug, his 1st this season.

Philadelphia catcher Fred Johnson contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 16th hit of the season and put the Quakers ahead, 1-0.

"It was a tough night at the plate," said New York manager Timothy Widholm.

The Knickerbockers, 9-10, continue their so-so start to the 1972 season.
