Knickerbockers Score Late, Stun Bluebirds, 3-2

Knickerbockers fans were treated to an exciting walk-off win.
Brooklyn wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Antonio Valerio, falling to the New York Knickerbockers, 3-2. Valerio threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Wayne Houston got credit for the win, improving to 2-2. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings.
George Fenton was the walk-off hero for New York. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Knickerbockers shortstop hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Every loss stings," said Brooklyn manager John Meeker. "This one is no exception."
New York is now 7-12.
