Captains Lose at Home, 6-1
|
Dick Lott never let San Diego get something going. The St. Louis right-hander commanded his sinker in pitching the Explorers to a 6-1 win. The Explorers raised their record to 10-9.
St. Louis used a well-timed hit by John Darnell to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Explorers ahead, 4-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"It's nice to get the results when you're feeling good and throwing the ball well," said Lott after the game.
