Los Angeles Bats Go Silent in 1-0 Loss
St. Louis starter Pat Burkholder pitched well against the Los Angeles Blockbusters at Corps of Discovery Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a win, 1-0. The winning pitcher was Burkholder, now 2-2. He tossed 8 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 3. The save was credited to Don Dalton, his 3rd.

George Kiss was 1-2 for St. Louis. The 27-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Mark Evert. It was his 4th RBI of the season.

"There are no moral victories," said losing manager John Trausch.

The win moves St. Louis to a record of 7-11.
