Game 5 was big. So was Jerry Zaruba.

The Pittsburgh starter rose to the occasion at Corps of Discovery Stadium today, leading the Industrials to a crucial 5-3 victory over the St. Louis Explorers. Zaruba threw 9.0 innings of 8-hit ball as the Industrials won on the road to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.

Jerry Hunter, the 32-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Hunter contributed a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to put Pittsburgh up, 2-0.

"Jerry is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Pittsburgh manager Vincent Wicker.

The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, October 10th , 1967 at Allegheny Field in Pittsburgh.
