The Atlanta Generals started the Divisional Round in style, winning on the road against the Houston Drillers at Sam Houston Field by a score of 5-2 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Generals left-hander George Palmer threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball.

Emil Wathen came through with a big-time hit for Atlanta. The pinch hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

Atlanta manager Philipe Yazzie commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Sam Houston Field in Houston.
