Montreal Needs 11 Innings to Subdue New York in Game 2
The Montreal Habitants got a strong game from starter Mike Gresley, but it was some clutch hitting that ultimately delivered the win.

The Habitants took the 4-3 win over the New York Empires in Game 2 of the Divisional Round in a 11th inning walk-off. The win capped off a fine outing for the right-handed Gresley. Gresley threw 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball in the win, which gave the Habitants a 2-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.

Batting in the bottom of the 11th, five-time All-Star Jeff Murchison had a real shot to win the game. New York pitcher Jack Pratt was determined not to let it happen. But with two outs, Murchison hit a run-scoring single. The Habitants had a walk-off triumph.

"It was a good day but I'm not letting my guard down," Gresley said. "I'll let my guard down as soon as someone puts a big, fat championship ring on my finger."

Game 3 is scheduled for Friday at Queens Field in New York.
