Raucous Bluff Park Crowd Propels Wranglers to 5-1 Victory; Series Tied at 3
|
The Dallas Wranglers and the Cleveland Bobcats will take the World Series to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation, the Wranglers beat the Bobcats, 5-1, at Bluff Park to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Dallas shortstop Mike Weatherby was 4 for 4 with 4 singles. He scored 2 runs.
Dick Howard dealt the Bobcats a blow in the bottom of the sixth. Batting with runners on 1st and 3rd and Dallas leading 2-1, Howard, who is a two-time All-Star, hit a 2-2 curveball for a 2-run double.
"It was a solid team effort," said Weatherby after the game.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Bluff Park in Dallas.
