Drillers Improve to 14-6 with 1-0 Win
|
The Seattle Emeralds wasted an impressive 7.2-inning effort from starter Hector Contreras, falling 1-0 to the Houston Drillers at Sam Houston Field. Oscar Contreras was the winner. Over 6 innings, he allowed no runs on 5 hits, with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts. Earning his 3rd save for Houston was Tim Fried.
The Drillers got a big at-bat from first baseman Gary Sewell. For the game, Sewell went 1 for 2 with a home run. In the bottom of the third, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Houston a 1-0 lead.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Seattle manager Mark Velez.
At 14-6, the Drillers have played well so far.
