Dairymen Need Extra Frames to Get Past Bluebirds
|
The Milwaukee Dairymen faced a tough opponent in Brooklyn pitcher Damon Rutherford, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Flatbush Park by a final score of 4-2. Rutherford went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Milwaukee reliever Joe Walker was the winner. His record is now 3-0. John DiGiacomo took the loss. The defeat makes Brooklyn 9-12.
Milwaukee needed the clutch hitting of Mike Wheeler to notch the win. The third baseman hammered a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Dairymen on top, 3-2. For the game, Wheeler had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"It's a satisfying feeling, to win like we did," said Wheeler.
